Active in the plastic and packaging manufacturing and recycling industries, Mike Verzaleno serves as president of Kearny Steel Container. Mike Verzaleno leads a team that reconditions 55-gallon steel and plastic containers.

For the past 74 years, his company has served as an innovator in drum reconditioning, meticulously sorting containers, and applying live-flamed furnacing techniques that oxidize residues. After removing paint and other residues, the team restores the drums to their original appearance, shape, and quality. At the end of the process, the drum is pressurized to detect potential leaks.

Under the guidance of Mr. Verzaleno, the company also rebottles intermediate bulk (IBC) containers. His leadership extends to the sister company, National Packaging Services, and he maintains a “Closing-the-Loop” container recycling program recognized as an industry standard.

Mr. Verzaleno maintains a strong community presence. For six years, he sponsored and managed the baseball team Akadema Heat. In his free time, he is an avid saltwater fisherman and enjoys beach runs.
